Work In Progress

Since it’s creation, the Van Buren Township Downtown Development Authority has made great strides in establishing a safe, connected, and walkable downtown business district.

Key improvements have included LED streetlights, extended sidewalks, attractive landscaping with inviting benches; the reconfiguration of the Belleville/Ecorse Roads intersection; Quirk Park Splash Pad and Playground refresh and the pedestrian bridge over I-94 to connect the north and south sides of the DDA business district.

Projects currently in the works include the Placemaking Project in the center of the business district that will include a facility and pocket park for community gatherings, activities, meetings and workshops.

Current DDA Projects

Located right in the center of the DDA Business District, the Placemaking facility will serve as a social and economic hub. Housed on the property will be a park-like setting where events can be held and people will gather to be active and stay connected. Included in the project will be a walking path, benches, Wi-Fi and charging stations, a place to enjoy a snack or meal while socializing under a pavilion. A public reader board will also be included to keep the community informed of activities taking place in Van Buren Township.

Current Projects Within DDA Boundaries

Once completed, the new Marriott TownePlace Suites Hotel, located at the corner of the North I-94 Service Drive and Quirk Road in Van Buren Township, will be the perfect place to welcome travelers visiting the American Center for Mobility or nearby tech centers.
